CUPE NB Endorses Égalité Santé en Français’ Lawsuit

Fredericton – In the aftermath of the NB Public Health Summit in Miramichi last Saturday, CUPE NB decided to formalize its support to Égalité Santé en Français (ESF) to fight privatization.

On April 7, 2017, ESF filed a Notice of Prosecution against the Government of New Brunswick, which would counteract the arrival of Sodexo, a private for-profit multinational, into our hospitals. CUPE NB supports the work of the organization, as it is also of the view that the government is overriding the authority of the Vitality Board, which has unanimously voted against privatization.

"Dr. Hubert Dupuis, president of ESF, understands how food services, cleaning services and porterage services are all a vital part of clinical care. Outsourcing hospital services means dismantling our health care system - and that is unacceptable," said Daniel Légère, President of CUPE NB.

CUPE NB is calling on other unions, organizations and associations to show their support to the ESF efforts.
